Indigenous. Knowledge. Powerful

welcome to uru uru team

Qamñi zoñi, Kamisaki, Hola, Hello from 3,686 m!
Our lake is in a critical state. status. Because of plastic and mining pollution from rapid urbanization, still-active gold mining, and rising climate temperatures, our lake is about to disappear, following the high-altitude lake’s disappearance pattern in Bolivia, as the Poopo lake did in 2010.

Indigenous Youth

We are Indigenous Youth restoring our sacred lake Uru Uru by applying our Indigenous knowledge Technology By using the Totora’s phytoremediation properties, we can decontaminate the lake from mining pollutants and, though our youth community-based action, we cleaning up the lake, little by little.

Led by mostly young indigenous women, , we aim to honour the sacred Pachamama (Mother Earth) equilibrium our heritage calls us to. We all come from diverse academic backgrounds, but come together to help bring life back to the Uru-Uru lake, contributing to the global fight against Climate Change.

Our Motto:

“Indigenous Knowledge and Technology to the vanguard of Environmental Conservation and Restoration“
